Laughfest at Athfest began in 2009 at New Earth Music Hall as an Athfest-affiliated event. In 2010, the show moved to the 40 Watt, and every year since, the event has kicked off Athfest at the Georgia Theatre for one night only.
We are lucky to have received tremendous support from our community in years past, and have acquired some incredible headliners. Many Athfest comedians have gone on to various TV appearances, including 2012 headliner Nikki Glaser (Comedy Central presents: Not Safe with Nikki Glaser) and 2014 headliner Clayton English (Winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing 2015).
Laughfest at Athfest’s founder Chris Patton brings 8 years of experience with this festival, as well as 9 years of experience throwing comedy events and working with artists such as Hannibal Buress, Doug Stanhope, Tom Segura, Tig Notaro, Brian Posehn and many others. Chris has a booking perspective that is local- and community-driven—it’s always been about bringing together local comedians and unique performance opportunities.
Laughfest at Athfest provides a platform for the local comedy scene and our expansion of the festival hopes to provide more opportunities for local comedians. Interested in performing at Laughfest at Athfest? Video submissions are open until May 1st.
